Stow, ME Real Estate and Information . . .
Stow has all the elements of Maine wilderness ... mountains, lake s, large forested areas. Yet it's convenient to North Conway tax-free shopping, as well as being in the Fryeburg Academy School District. The best of both worlds for year-round residents. Stow is right on the Maine/New Hampshire line bordering Chatham, NH. A portion of Stow borders highly prized Kezar Lake waterfront. And it's right at the gateway to the White Mountain National Forest through Evans Notch. With its incredible mountain views and pristine environment, it's poised to become a highly desirable vacation getaway, particularly for the wilderness oriented. Stow, a town in Oxford County, settled in 1770 and incorporated on January 28, 1833 from a tract including Bradley and Eastman's Grants and Fryeburg Addition. Once the home of the Pequaket Indians, Stow borders New Hampshire, which may be reached by Maine Route 113 north from Fryeburg. The Cold River enters the state here and flows through most of the town. Access to Kezar Lake is available from the town via the Lower Bay portion of that Lake.
