Albany is the entrance to the Mount Washington Valley, and is locat ed just south of Conway Village. It is one of the smallest towns within the Mount Washington Valley in Carroll County with a population of 654 that was recorded at the 2000 census. Albany uses both the Conway Post Office and zip code. One of Albany's many features is a 120 foot covered bridge that spans the beautiful Swift River which is located just north of the Kancamagus Highway. Albany borders scenic Route 16 and the Kancamagus Highway. Seen from this picturesque town are spectacular views of two mountains, Mount Chocorua and Mount Paugus, which are well known and popular hiking spots with spectacular mountain trails, fishing in the Swift River and scenic drives. Albany is known for it's biggest landowner; the White Mountain National Forest and is also home to the World Fellowship Center, a resort and retreat center founded in 1941 for peace activists.
